William married Janet HENDERSON, daughter of James HENDERSON 3rd of Fordell and Jean MURRAY, on 15 April 1592.¹ (Janet HENDERSON was born about 1564.)

  Marriage Notes:

"William (Elphinstone), a twin with the foregoing (Michael), witnessed a contract in 1568, was Sheriff-depute of Orkney in 1576. He had a charter, 7 April 1589, of the lands of Trosnes in Orkney. He married Janet, daughter of James Henderson of Fordell, with issue. He was the ancestor of the Elphinstones of Calderhall, one of whom ultimately married Jessie Bruce, the heiress of Airth, and purchased the barony of Elphinstone. William Elphinstone died 26 July 1602, and the following year his widow married Thomas Livingstone of Hayning."
