"John Mortimer of Craigievar, m. Helen, daughter of George Symmer of Balzeordie (c/m 1598), and in consideration of which his father conveyed the lands of Innerteir and others to them by charter dated 29 November 1598. He was at odds with his father by 1600 when he became compelled to subscribe a Bond of Caution not to harm him, and disponed his lands and barony of Craigievar to Mr William Forbes of Manie by charter dated January 1610."
