"Sir Donald Macdonald, 10th of Sleat, 3rd Bt. was the son of Sir James 'Mor' Macdonald, 9th of Sleat, 2nd Bt. and Margaret Mackenzie. He married Lady Mary Douglas, daughter of Robert Douglas, 8th Earl of Morton and Elizabeth Villiers, on 24 July 1662 at Perth, Perthshire, Scotland. He died on 5 February 1695.

In 1660 he had the name and representation of the Macdonalds restored. Clan Donald had been treated as chiefless since the forfeiture of the 11th Earl of Ross. He succeeded as the 3rd Baronet Macdonald, of Sleat, in the Isle of Skye, co. Inverness [N.S., 1625] on 8 December 1678. In 1684 he was 'sued as unfaithful.' "
