Note:

This section on the Leslies of Aikenway presents a number of problems with dates based on the statements about parentage and marriage partners.

If the daughter who married James Innes, as noted above, was the daughter of George Leslie, 3rd of Aikenway, she would have been born about 20 years or so before the husband, James Innes of Blackhills, a husband that secondary sources normally assign to her.

Of course, he may not have been her husband; she may have married his father, also named James Innes, who appears to have been of her generation, but that is not found in the sources.

It may be then that she was either not a daughter of George's two wives, and instead was born outside of marriage, or she was a daughter born within marriage, but of his second marriage, not his first.
