Marriage Notes: "Nicholas de Auchinleck, is, apparently, the first for whom there is evidence and as such, it is uncertain if he was the first to acquire the extensive lands of Auchinleck, in Ayrshire, or had inherited them from ancestors for whom there is now no record. He had m. a woman named Matilda by 3 November 1292 when both are included in Richard de Kirkbryde's suit against Robert de Brus and Christina, his wife, over right of succession to the sixth part of the manor of Glassanby1[1 Cal. Doc. Scot. I, P. 150.] and gave homage with other noblemen from Ayrshire on 28 August 1296,2[2 Cal. Doc. Scot. I, P. 206.] but does not appear in further records of that time. His lineal heir was; John de Auchinleck of that Ilk" |
