"Sir John Allardice of that Ilk, m. a lady named Margaret with whom he had a charter under the Great Seal for the lands and barony of Allardice dated 15 December 1426, with remainder to themselves and to Thomas de Allardice, his grandson and the legitimate heirs male of his own body, which failing, to Hugh de Allardice, his son, and his heirs, which failing, to David, also a son of John, which failing to any other heirs²[² GD49/3 See also RMS 1426-1513.
