James married Elizabeth BURNET, daughter of Sir Alexander BURNET elder, of Craigmyle and Christian FRASER, 8 February 1688(contract).1 (Elizabeth BURNET was born about 1676.)

  Marriage Notes:

"Elizabeth (Burnet), married . (contr. 8th Feb., 1688), James Gordon of Corfarroch."

from Family of Burnett of Leys

""Janet (Gordon), daughter of James of Terpersie, married David Gordon of Achoynanie, 3rd son of Sir John Gordon, 2nd Gordon of Park. This David was brother of Sir John, 1st Bart. of Park, and of George Gordon of Edinglassie, mentioned in a sasine, 1672; he and Janet had a son, James Gordon of Balbithan, who was author of the M.S. History of the Gordons, called the Balbithan M.S. He married 1st Elizabeth, sister of Sir Alexander Burnett of Craigmyle, and had issue; and 2ndly a grand-daughter of Innes of Balvenie, by whom he had a son, Benjamin, who succeeded to Balbithan, and became a General in the army. As the mother of the author of the Balbithan M.S. was a daughter of the laird of Terpersie, it is probable that his information about that family is generally correct."

from Notes on the Family of Gordon of Terpersie 1 4

James next married Jean INNES, daughter of Reverend Sir George INNES of Denoone, 4th Baronet of Balvenie and Unknown.2 (Jean INNES was born about 1690.)

  Marriage Notes:

"David Gordon of Achoynany, third son of Sir John Gordon 2nd of Park, married Janet Gordon, daughter of Gordon of Terpersie. Their son, James, by about 1730 had become James Gordon of Balbithan. James Gordon, who was reputedly the author of the 'Balbithan MS' married Jean Innes, daughter of Innes of Balvenie. He was succeeded by his son, Benjamin, who was commissioned in the 1st Ft in 1742."
