"Janet (Crichton), baptized at Markinch 20 November 1640, had a charter of the lands of Cowmisties and others 16 August 1647, and was married at Wemyss 24 August 1665 to Sir James Macgill of Rankeillour. Her descendant David Maitland Makgill of Rankeillour claimed the Peerage in 1827."
