"Catharine Baillie married Colonel Hugh Rose of Kilravock and who received with a niece the property of Dunain, the last Laird having died without issue and thus failed the last of the direct Lairds of Dunain to have issue. The line of Colonel Kenneth Baillie of Georgia would now (1898) be the rightful heirs to the chieftainship, except that his line in male line is extinct. The estate of Dunain is now owned by- James Bruce Baillie, though the representative of the family of Dunain. who is now the rightful chief of Lamington, Dunain and Dockfour is Evan Baillie of Filleigh, Chudleigh, Devon, England, whose eldest son is Captain Edmund Alexander Baillie of Manor House. Trent, Sherborne, England."

He was twice married - first, as has been seen, to Katharine Baillie of Dunain ; secondly, to Catherine Mackintosh of Far. The children of the former marriage were Hugh, John, George, who was an officer in the Indian army, and died unmarried ; Isabella, the wife of Cosmo Innes, Advocate ; Elizabeth, of Peter Grant of Corrimony, a civil servant of the India Company ; Margaret, married to William Dealtry, son of the Archdeacon of Surrey ; Katharine, to David Cuninghame, lieutenant-colonel in the Bombay army."
