"Magnus, anno 1276, received the title from Magnus, King of Norway, at Tunsberg. He also appears as Earl of Orkney in the documents dated 5 February 1283, declaring Margaret, the Maiden of Norway, the nearest heir to the Scottish throne. He died 1284, without issue, and was succeeded by his brother, John"
