The designation 'of Dalhousie' here, referring to a baron of Dalhousie, is not substantiated elsewhere. It most likely can be accurate only as meaning 'of the Dalhousie family'. Although thepeerage.com and their primary source is quoted here regarding the parents of William Ramsay of Balnabreich, the rest of the line of descent as outlined on that site has not been followed, as it appears that two generations have been conflated. 1
