"John Seton, first of Parbroath, who married, as already stated, Elizabeth, daughter and heiress of Sir Nicholas Ramsay of Parbroath, and ward of King David II. The Ramsays of Parbroath are believed to have been a branch of the House of Dalhousie, and among other Fifeshire cadets of that family, towards the end of the fourteenth century, we find the Ramsays of Northbarnes, the Ramsays of Balbarton, and the Ramsays of Lumquhat."
