Agnes married William BARCLAY of Newton and of that Ilk, Advocate and Procurator Fiscal, son of George BARCLAY of that Ilk, Advocate and Burgess in Aberdeen and Marjorie CHEYNE, by 1604.1 2 (William BARCLAY of Newton and of that Ilk, Advocate and Procurator Fiscal was born about 1566.)


  Marriage Notes:

"William Barclay, the elder, who succeeded him, was known as 'of Newtoun and of that Ilk.' Like his father, he was also an advocate in Aberdeen and Procurator Fiscal from 1594 to 1631. He married Agnes Hay, and died after July 7th, 1631"

"Barclay, William. 1595.

Eldest son of George Barclay (1568). Probably M.A. Procurator Fiscal of Aberdeenshire from about 1594 to 1631. Procurator for the city. Proprietor of Ardmurdo. Married in, or before, 1604, Agnes Hay, with issue : -

1. James, who had sasine in a house and yard in Old Aberdeen, 18th February, 1622.

1. Helen, married William Lumsden, advocate (1624).

Died after 7th July, 1637."
