"Angus Mor (MacDonald), Lord of the Isles, died about 1296, and was buried at lona. He married a daughter of Sir Colin Campbell of Lochow, and had by her :
1. Alexander.
2. Angus Og, to whom he gave the lordship of Kintyre, afterwards Lord of the Isles.
3. John, known as Iain Sprangach, progenitor of the Macdonalds of Ardnamurchan, who played an important part in the history of the Highlands, and disappeared as a territorial family in the first half of the seventeenth century."
