1. SETON, Alexander 2nd of Touch, Sir

HOME, Elizabeth 1 2

  • Born: About 1468
  • Marriage (1): SETON, Alexander 2nd of Touch, Sir 1

   User ID: E612.

Elizabeth married Sir Alexander SETON 2nd of Touch, son of Sir Alexander SETON of Touch and Elizabeth ERSKINE.1 (Sir Alexander SETON 2nd of Touch was born about 1460 and died on 9 September 1513 in Battle of Flodden Field, Northumberland, England 1.)

  Marriage Notes:

"Sir Alexander Seton, 2nd of Touch (d Flodden 09.09.1513) m. Elizabeth Home (a 'natural' (see Note below) dau of Alexander, Lord Home)"

from thesetonfamily.com website

Note:

There has been some serious confusion in the past about the marriages and children of Sir Alexander Home, so this may account for Elizabeth being referred to above as a 'natural' daughter', for she was not named as a legitimate daughter in any volume of
The Scots Peerage. Volume nine of this series merely states that

"
According to the genealogy of 1664, there were eight daughters in all."

A recent Wikipedia article does name Elizabeth along with Thomas, Nicholas and David Home as a child of the second marriage of Sir Alexander Home.

She is noted by clanmacfarlanegenealogy (relying on Stirnet Genealogy, Peter Barns-Graham, Seton02) as the daughter of Sir Alexander's first wife, Mariota Lauder, but this is not likely. The dates suggest otherwise: Mariota Lauder, the first wife, began having children in the 1420s and Sir Alexander Seton of Touch's wife, Elizabeth Home, was probably born in the 1460s.
