Cecilia married Sir William MURRAY 2nd Earl of Tullibardine, son of Sir John MURRAY Earl of Tullibardine and Catherine DRUMMOND, 30 October 1599(contract).1 (Sir William MURRAY 2nd Earl of Tullibardine was born about 1575, died in 1627 2 and was buried on 30 July 1627 in St. Margaret's, Westminster, London, England 2.) Marriage Notes: "On 1 April 1626 he resigned his earldom of Tullibardine in favour of his brother, Sir Patrick Murray, having, it is said, obtained a promise from the King that the earldom of Atholl should be allowed to his issue by his wife Lady Dorothy Stewart. Lord Tullibardine, however, died before 30 January 1628 in London, and was buried in the chapel of Tullibardine, and it was not until the following year that the whole plan was carried into effect. He married, first (contract dated 30 October 1599), Cecilia, eldest daughter of Sir John Wemyss of Wemyss, but had no isssue by her" |
