from Births and Baptisms

In the 1703 Old Machar parish baptismal record of Janet Strachan, the witnesses to the baptism were John Marnoch, George Cruikshank, John Bisset and James Conquergood.

Note:

An entry in Old Aberdeen dated 1687 refers to a James Conquergood, "gairder in the king's college". Very few people of this surname are found in Aberdeen and the north, most originating from Fife.

  Research Notes:

JANET STRACHAN

In the will of Alexander Strachan of 1732, he refers to his wife, Janet, as the daughter of William Strachan "in New Morlech". This reference points to the William Strachan named here as Alexander's father. He was son of the deceased William Strachan "in the broomhill of Glenkindy". 1

Janet married Alexander STRACHAN, son of Michael STRACHAN of Auchnagatt and Unknown.1 (Alexander STRACHAN was born in 1670 and died before 7 July 1732.)
