  • Born: About 1365
  • Marriage (1): URQUHART, John of Cromarty 1

   User ID: C977.

Agnes married John URQUHART of Cromarty, son of Adam URQUHART Sheriff of Cromarty and Brigida FLEMING.1 (John URQUHART of Cromarty was born about 1348.)

  Marriage Notes:

"John, had charter 1368. m. Agnes, dau. of Sir Alex. Ramsay of Dalhousie." (page 14)

"The 2nd Laird, Adam's son, was John Urchard of Cromarty, who succeeded, and, in his father's lifetime, had the charter from Walter Leslie, Lord of Philorth, to 'John Urchard, son of Adam Urchard, Sheriff of Cromarty, and his heirs, of the lands of Fohesterdy, etc.'

He married Agnes, daughter of Sir Alexander Ramsay, ancestor of the Earls of Dalhousie, and by her he appears to have had two sons. (1) Sir William, his heir. (2) Thomas, who was keeper and governor of the Castle of Tarnaway, by a charter from Thomas, Earl of Murray, dated 1402. He was the progenitor of the Urquharts of Burdsyards." (page 22)
