  Marriage Notes:

"Sir William of Culter, died 2 May 1607, buried at Dundrennan ; married Mary (corrected in v.9 to Margaret), daughter of Sir William Bailie of Lamington, and widow of Edward Maxwell, Abbot of Dundrennan. His son, William, married Helen Livingston, heiress of Westquarter."

from Scots Peerage (vol 5)

"Margaret Baillie married, secondly, John Livingston, of West Quarter (see Note below), second son of William Lord Livingston and his wife Agnes, daughter of William Lord Fleming, and brother of Alexander Earl of Wigton (see Note below), and by him had several children. At the death of Margaret Baillie, heiress of Lamington, the main branch of the family became extinct."

from Lives of the Baillies

Note:

1

As far as is generally accepted Margaret Baillie's husband was named William, not John, and the designation 'of West Quarter' was adopted by a later generation.

2

Margaret's brother in law was Earl of Linlithgow, not of Wigton (Wigtown).
