"Edmund Hay of Megginch succeeded before 1496. He was bailie of Erroll. He was named as one of the tutors to William, sixth Earl of Erroll, who died a minor. He was a substitute in the entail of the lordship of Erroll granted to George, seventh Earl, 5 December 1541, and also in that of Slains on 13 December in the same year. He married Janet Boyd, and died in 1542 or 1543."
