Ethna married David DE LA HAY 2nd of Erroll, Sheriff of Forfar, son of William DE LA HAY of Erroll, 'Cupbearer' (Pincerna) and Eva heiress of Petenalin.^{1 2} (David DE LA HAY 2nd of Erroll, Sheriff of Forfar was born about 1175 and died by 27 April 1241 ¹.)

"To the convent of Coupar he (David de la Hay) made a donation for the welfare of the souls of King William, William de Haya his father, Ethna his wife, himself, and Eva his wife. He married, first, Ethna, and secondly Eva. It is not improbable that Ethna was a daughter of Gilbert, Earl of Strathearn, whose mother's name was Ethna. He had issue"
