William and Isabella Brown were recorded by the 1861 census living at 19 Salisbury Street in the St Cuthbert's parish of Edinburgh, the registration district being Canongate. William was aged 31 years and had been born in Ireland. He was a gun maker. With him lived his wife, Isabella, and a one year old boarder called George Johnston who had been born in England. 2


William married Isabella Wilson PRENTICE, daughter of Robert PRENTICE and Ann JACK, on 26 December 1853 in Saint Cuthbert's parish, Edinburgh, Scotland.1 (Isabella Wilson PRENTICE was born on 29 December 1830 in Saint Cuthbert's parish, Edinburgh, Scotland 1.)
