  General Notes:

"Lord Kilmaurs appears to have been restored to the rank of Earl at the marriage of Margaret of England with James IV. of Scotland in 1503. John Young, Somerset Herald (who attended the Princess to Scotland) records that on Sunday, 13 August of that year, three noble lords were made Earls in the Queen's presence. They were presented to the King by Marchmont Herald, took the oaths, and the King 'girdled them with the sword above their shoulders, and gave them their lordships, to them and to their heirs.' One of these was Lord Kilmaurs, now proclaimed as ' Cuthberd, Comte de Glencarne, Lord de Kylmarres, Baron Banerett, and Lord of Parliament.' "
