from Chiefs of Clan Cameron 2

Allan married Mariot MACDONALD, daughter of Angus MACDONALD 'Aonghas na Feairte', 2nd of Keppoch and Unknown.1 (Mariot MACDONALD was born about 1440.)

  Marriage Notes:

"Allan (Cameron), in point of fact, married Mariot, daughter of Angus Macdonald, known among the Highlanders as 'Aonghas na Feairte,' second of Keppoch. He is styled 'Angus de Insulis,' in a charter of confirmation granted to 'Alano Donaldi capitanei de Clan-Cameron et heredibus inter ipsum Alanum et Mariotam Angussii de Insulis'.

The lady's paternal grandfather was thus Alastair Carrach Macdonald, third son of John, first Lord of the Isles, by his second wife, Lady Margaret, daughter of King Robert II. of Scotland. Alastair Carrach himself is referred to in a complaint by William, Bishop of Moray, in 1398, as 'Magnificus vir et potens, Alexander de Insulis, Dominus de Louchabre,' proving that the Lochaber Macdonald chiefs were also designated, at that time, de Insulis.

This is at least as good and illustrious an ancestry as the tainted one claimed by the family genealogist from Angus Og, the bastard son of John, fourth and last Earl of Ross, and Lord of the Isles By Mariot Macdonald of Keppoch, Allan had issue"
