"FRANCIS ABERCROMBY, the eldest son, born 1654, married Anne, suo jure Baroness Sempill, and was on 6 July 1685 created LORD GLASFOORD for the natural term of his life only. By a charter of 16 May 1688 not only the estates but the title of Sempill were confirmed ' to the longest liver of them in liferent,' but after the death of his wife in 1695 he appears to have been known only as Lord Glasfoord."
