Hugh married Marion SETON, daughter of George SETON 5th of that Ilk, 3rd Lord Seton and Janet HEPBURN, by 8 February 1530(1531).1 2 (Marion SETON was born about 1512 and died by 30 September 1561 2.)

"Thomas, Master of Borthwick, married Mariot, daughter of George, Lord Seton, and died in his father's lifetime, after 28 November 1528, without issue. His widow married, secondly, February 1530-31, Hugh, Earl of Eglinton." (page 108)
