'James Cleland of that ilk, an eminent man in the time of King James V. whom he frequently attended while hunting, as in the above mentioned manuscript, married a daughter of Hepburn of Bonnytown, descended of the Earl of Bothwell, by whom he had his son and successor Alexander. (Nisbet.)' "
