"In 1441-42, and again in 1445-46, he (Edmund Hay of Talla) had a gift of £10 from the King, and 1449-50 paid £36, 13s. 4d. to the Exchequer for the wardship of the fourth part of the lands of Polgavy and Telyne; on 9 December 1449 he had a grant from the King to himself and to Annabella, bis wife, of the marriage of William de Maxwell of Teyling."
