"JAMES FORRESTER of Corstorphine and Janet Lauder his wife had a charter of the lands of West Craigs of Corstorphine and Clerkington February 1555-56 ; he is stated to have resigned these with consent of his curators, which indicates that he was under age at the date mentioned......"
On 2 August 1571, as Sir James Forrester of Corstorphine, he granted to Janet Lauder his wife, in implement of their marriage-contract, which was dated at Corstorphine the previous day, the lands of Nether Liberton, Nether Barnton, Easter Craigs, and Meadowfield. From this it is probable that though Janet Lauder is mentioned as his wife so far back as 1556, they were only then betrothed, and that he did not marry her till the later date, or else that it was a postnuptial contract......"
"He married Jonet Lauder, daughter of Robert Lauder of the Bass, but by her he had no male issue. She married, secondly, Sir John Campbell of Cawdor ; thirdly, Mr. John Lindsay, parson of Menmuir ; and fourthly, Patrick Gray of Oransley, son of Patrick, Lord Gray."

Jane next married John CAMPBELL 3rd of Cawdor (Calder), son of Archibald CAMPBELL 2nd of Cawdor (Calder) and Isabel GRANT.1 (John CAMPBELL 3rd of Cawdor (Calder) was born about 1543 and died February 1591(1592) 3.). The cause of his death was murder by a shot from a hackbut.

"1602: John Campbell, Thane of Cawdor's next brother, Colin, granted a discharge of a contract
provision and in it identified himself as 'second of the House of Cawdor' (Colin was of age by
1602). A reference was made to their 'mother, Dame Jean Lawder, Lady Corstorphine, relict of
deceased Sir John Campbell of Cawdor.' She was a daughter of Lawder of Halton in Lothian and
married (1) John Campbell of Cawdor and (2) James Forester of Corstorphine, (3) Robert Gray
of Cranislie in Angus. In 1603, she sold her liferent to her son John Campbell, Thane of Cawdor."

Jane or Jean Lauder was stepmother to the Campsbell sons mentioned above. She had four husbands in all, including John Lindsay, Lord Menmuir, and not quite in the order outlined above. 1 3
Jane next married John LINDSAY Lord Menmuir, son of David LINDSAY of Edzell, 9th Earl of Crawford and Katherine CAMPBELL.1 (John LINDSAY Lord Menmuir was born about 1551, died on 3 September 1598 1 and was buried in Kilconquhar, Fife, Scotland 1.)
