   User ID: V852.

Catherine married John DE CHISHOLME 'of the Aird', son of Sir Robert DE CHISHOLME and Margaret HALIBURTON.1 (John DE CHISHOLME 'of the Aird' was born about 1347 and died in 1436 1.)

  Marriage Notes:

"He (John de Chisholme) married Catherine Bisset, daughter of Bisset of that Ilk, in right of whom he succeeded, on the death of her father, to a portion of the Bisset lands in the Aird. By this lady he had issue - an only child, Morella, who married Alexander Sutherland, Baron of Duffus, grandson of Nicolas Sutherland, second son of Kenneth Earl of Sutherland, who was killed at the battle of Halidonhill in 1333."

from History of the Chisholmes

Note
'Bisset of that Ilk' is not readily identified as such. The Bissets had a chequered career in Scotland after the affair of Walter Bisset of Aboyne in 1242. Some of those connected to him scattered to England and Ireland, and for a time their allegiance lay with the English king. King Robert I of Scots, who himself had strong links with Ireland, awarded lands to Bisset loyalists, and it is probably this line that is referred to here.
