General Notes: "The following curious story of his boldness and cleverness is preserved by tradition, and is given in the Rev. L. Shaw's MS. account : - A friend having been imprisoned at Edinburgh on some charge involving capital punishment, Angus entered Holyrood Palace in disguise, and managed to obtain a private audience of the king, James VI. Presenting a pistol at James's breast, he obtained from the tenified monarch a token by which Angus married.1 |
