  General Notes:

"ANDREW OF DOUGLAS, who is claimed as the ancestor of the Earls of Morton. It is nowhere stated that he was the son of Archibald of Douglas, but the latter received, some time before 1226, the lands of Hermiston in Midlothian and Livingston in West Lothian from Malcolm, Earl of Fife, and as these lands are found later in the possession of Andrew, there is a strong presumption that he was the son of Archibald."

from Scots Peerage 1

  Research Notes:

MORTON

"MORTON, a small holding in East Calder, not the parish of Morton in Nithsdale ... "

from Scots Peerage 1
