Janet married Alexander CUNNINGHAM 5th Earl of Glencairn, son of William CUNNINGHAM 4th Earl of Glencairn and Catherine BORTHWICK, by 22 January 1549(1550).1 (Alexander CUNNINGHAM 5th Earl of Glencairn was born about 1509 and died before 8 March 1574(1575) 1.)

"He (Alexander Cunningham) married, secondly, Janet or Jane, daughter of Sir John Cunningham of Caprington ; he granted her a charter 'in ejus pura virginitate ' 22 January 1549-50, of the lands and barony of Stevenston. She survived the Earl."
