YOUNGER MAGISTRATE

In 1499 Andrew Cullen, elder, and Andrew Cullen, younger, were serving as magistrates in Aberdeen. It is not clear if the elder was the uncle of the younger, that is to say the brother of Robert Cullen, father of the younger Andrew. The elder Andrew Cullen was a Baillie on 30 January 1490-1491. ¹

1. Magistrate, 1499, in Aberdeen. ¹

2. Provost, 1506-1507, of Aberdeen. ²

3. Provost, 1535-1536, of Aberdeen. ²

Andrew married.

  Marriage Notes:

"Andrew Cullen was married, but to whom we have not been able to discover, and had at least two sons, who have also left their mark on the page of local history. The elder son, Walter (died 28th October, 1561), became one of the magistrates in 1531....The younger son of the Provost was called Andrew..."
