"SIR WILLIAM (Keith), who, in the year 1354 is designed ' Marescallus Scotise,' and in 1378-80 is described as lord of the barony of Alden (now Aden), diocese of Aberdeen. In a charter by Donald, Earl of Lennox, to Walter Buchanan of that Ilk, of date 1342-62, the lands of Drumfade and Kirkmichael in Dumbartonshire are described as having been resigned by 'dominus Willelmus de Keth.' "
