John married Janet GARTSHORE, daughter of John GAITSHORE (DNA Link) and Agnes CRAIG, on 18 September 1885 in Waterside, Kirkintilloch parish, Dunbartonshire, Scotland.¹ (Janet GARTSHORE was born about 1854-1856 in Kirkintilloch parish, Dunbartonshire, Scotland ^{2 3} and died in 1886 in Kirkintilloch parish, Dunbartonshire, Scotland ⁴.)

  Marriage Notes:

The marriage took place according to the forms of the Original Secession Church and was officiated by Andrew Miller. The witnesses were William Campbell and Elizabeth Gartshore.

John Campbell was an unmarried man, aged 30 years, of Waterside Kirkintilloch. By occupation he was a mason. His father was deceased.

Janet Gartshore was also 30 years old, unmarried, and of Waterside, Kirkintilloch. She was a cotton weaver by occupation. Her father was deceased.

The marriage was registered at Kirkintilloch on 21 September 1885.

Note: In fact both of Janet's parents were deceased by 1885, not only her father. Her father died in 1881 and her mother in 1876. ^{1 5 6}
