"From 1628 regents were fixed to a certain year of the course. During this period two of the regents, Andrew Strachan and later David Leech are referred to as Professors of Physiology and Lower Mathematics. The old system of regenting was restored in 1641. The syllabus then included Arithmetic and Geometry in the second year, the Sphere and Astronomy in the fourth."

"Read's successful career in London did not pass unmarked by his countrymen in Aberdeen - nor did the successful physician and surgeon forget his Alma Mater. From a eulogy pronounced upon him in the Philosophical Lecture Room of King's College, Aberdeen, on 4 August 1631, it is clear that he was a benefactor to both King's College and the rival college of Marischal, and held in great esteem. This eulogy is appended to the Panegyricus Inauguralis of Andrew Strachan, D.D., a regent of King's College, and was printed by Edward Raban, printer to the University and Town Council, at Aberdeen in 1631. It is probable that Strachan is also the author of it. It is of a most fulsome nature."
