The marriage was celebrated after banns according to the forms of the United Presbyterian Church. Alex. Neilson, minister of the U.P. Church at Carluke, performed the ceremony. Henry Tole and Mary Brown were witnesses.

Daniel Gartshore was a 22 year old bachelor living in Carluke. He worked as a coal miner. His parents were deceased.

Isabella Brown was an unmarried woman of 20 years of age. No occupation was noted for her. She lived in Carluke.
