John married Mary STEWART 9th Countess of Menteith, daughter of Alan STEWART 7th Earl of Menteith and Marjory, before May 1334.1 (Mary STEWART 9th Countess of Menteith was born about 1305 and died probably before April 1360 1.) Marriage Notes: "Before May 1334 she (Mary Stewart) had married Sir John Graham, and it was probably then or at an earlier period that she received from Earl Murdach a grant of the lands of Aberfoyle, Buchlyvie, Boquhapple, and others, forming a considerable portion of the earldom. After that date Sir John is found bearing the title of Earl of Menteith.......The only known child of Sir John Graham and the Countess was ... MARGARET, who succeeded" (pages 137 and 138) |
