General Notes: ELIOCK Robert married Elizabeth STEWART, daughter of Sir James STEWART of Beath and Margaret LINDSAY, by 22 May 1558.1 2 (Elizabeth STEWART was born about 1534 and died before 6 August 1572 2.) Marriage Notes: Elizabeth (Stewart), married, before 22 May 1558, Mr. Robert Crichton of Eliock and Cluny, Senator of the College of Justice, and was mother of James Crichton, called 'the Admirable.' " Robert next married Agnes MOWBRAY 'of Barnbougle' 6 August 1572 (contract).2 (Agnes MOWBRAY 'of Barnbougle' was born about 1545 and died before 24 November 1578 2.) Marriage Notes: "He (Robert Crichton) m. .... secondly to Agnes daughter of John Mowbray of Barnbougle (c/m 6 August 1572 [RD1/11/446]) with whom had a gift of three quarters of the lands of East Craigie from her father on 30 June 1575" Robert next married Isobel BORTHWICK, daughter of David BORTHWICK of Lochhill, King's Advocate and Marion BLYTH, by 24 November 1578.2 (Isobel BORTHWICK was born about 1551 and died after June 1582 2.) Marriage Notes: "He (Robert Crichton) m. .... thirdly, by 24 November 1578, to Isobella, daughter to David Borthwick of Lochill, (she survived him, and m. secondly, to James Stirling of Wester Feddall)" |
