User ID: F834. General Notes: "Alexander Fraser of Durris, once claimed to be the son of the second marriage but now believed to be illegitimate, ancestor of the Frasers of Durris (today spelt Dores) and the Frasers of Forest." Alexander married Helen STRATON, daughter of Alexander STRATON 5th of Lauriston and Daughter SUTHERLAND.1 (Helen STRATON was born about 1414.) Marriage Notes: "In the 1400 there is a Charter granted by him which I saw in the hands of Sir Peter Fraser of Dores where in he is designed Dominus Alexander Fraser Dominus Baroniarum de Cowie et de Durrys whereby he gives to Alexandro Fraser filio Suo dilecto his well beloved Son terras de Knoclowies, Butchary and Belfuckachry in Baronia de Durris to be held of him and the heirs of his Second Marriage but in the want of Such Heirs failling he provides him in the whole Barony of Dorea which actually happened for there being no Issue of this Second Marriage on the demise of Sir Alexander his father he came to the Actual possession of the whole Estate lands and Barony of Dores. Which is afterwards Confirmed by a Charter under the Great Seall by King James the first in the Year 1486 in the hands of Sir Peter Fraser of Dores its dated as I take it from the Originall grant of the Croun and bears date the eight day of August the 25 year of the Kings Reign, that is Anno 1431. |
