  General Notes:

"Alexander Fraser of Durris, once claimed to be the son of the second marriage but now believed to be illegitimate, ancestor of the Frasers of Durris (today spelt Dores) and the Frasers of Forest."

from Baronage

Lady Johanna de Ross, Sir Alexander Fraser's first wife, died before 1400, for in that year a lady of the name of Hamilton appears as his wife, who is said to have been of the family of Cadzou, ancestors of the ducal house of Hamilton. In 1400 he granted, with the consent of his wife, Lady Elizabeth de Hamilton, who seems to have been infeft in the estate to secure her jointure, certain lands in the barony of Durris to his illegitimate son, Alexander Fraser, to be held under himself and Elizabeth de Hamilton, or the survivor, and under the heirs of this second marriage ; and failing such heirs, he granted him the whole barony of Durris, to be held under himself and his heirs, with a proviso that if the grantee should die without legitimate issue, the barony should revert to himself or his heirs. As there was no issue of the second marriage, this Alexander Fraser obtained the whole lands of the barony in accordance with the terms of the charter, and was the immediate ancestor of the family of Durris."

from Frasers of Philorth (vol 1) 2 3

Alexander married Helen STRATON, daughter of Alexander STRATON 5th of Lauriston and Daughter SUTHERLAND.1 (Helen STRATON was born about 1414.)

  Marriage Notes:

"In the 1400 there is a Charter granted by him which I saw in the hands of Sir Peter Fraser of Dores where in he is designed Dominus Alexander Fraser Dominus Baroniarum de Cowie et de Durrys whereby he gives to Alexandro Fraser filio Suo dilecto his well beloved Son terras de Knoclowies, Butchary and Belfuckachry in Baronia de Durris to be held of him and the heirs of his Second Marriage but in the want of Such Heirs failling he provides him in the whole Barony of Dorea which actually happened for there being no Issue of this Second Marriage on the demise of Sir Alexander his father he came to the Actual possession of the whole Estate lands and Barony of Dores. Which is afterwards Confirmed by a Charter under the Great Seall by King James the first in the Year 1486 in the hands of Sir Peter Fraser of Dores its dated as I take it from the Originall grant of the Croun and bears date the eight day of August the 25 year of the Kings Reign, that is Anno 1431.

He married Hellen Daughter of Straiton of Lauriston then and long afterward a very flourising family in the County of Kincairdin. And had a Son of his own Name Alexander Fraser of Dores to Succeed him in his Estate and who Carried doun the Line and Succession of the family."
