from Family of Forbes

"Of Walter Forbes's son, Alexander, who succeeded him as the fourth Laird of Blackton, we first discover a trace in the list of young men who, in the year 166S, entered their names on the roll of King's College, Aberdeen, 'sub regimine magistri Roberti Forbes.' Among them is that of 'Alexander Forbes, major, a Blacktone.' Little more is known of him. From a burgess ticket of Elgin, it appears that, on the 30th November, 1687, he was presented with the freedom of that town, and it is certain that in 1693 he was the husband of Isobel Hacket, 'relict of the deceast Alexander Abernethie of Meyan.' Whether she was his first or second wife is not evident, but his eldest son, William, the last Laird was born on November 28th, 1689. He had also a daughter, Helen Forbes, who in 1712 married William Keith, younger, of Bruxie."
