William Bennie, an ironstone miner and widower, who was present where his wife's death occurred, gave notice of Margaret Gartshore's death before the registrar at Kirkintilloch on 24 October 1881. ⁴

William married Margaret GARTSHORE (DNA Link), daughter of John GAITSHORE (DNA Link) and Agnes CRAIG, on 19 November 1880 in Waterside, Kirkintilloch parish, Dunbartonshire, Scotland.¹ (Margaret GARTSHORE (DNA Link) was born about 1849 in Kirkintilloch parish, Dunbartonshire, Scotland ^{1 5 6} and died on 24 October 1881 in Waterside, Kirkintilloch parish, Dunbartonshire, Scotland ⁴.). The cause of her death was phtisis pulmonalis.

  Marriage Notes:

The marriage took place after publication of banns and according to the forms of the Original Secession Church. Andrew Miller officiated. David Bennie and Janet Gartshore were witnesses.

William Bennie, a widower of 31 years of age, worked as an ironstone miner. He lived at Gartclash, Kirkintilloch.

Margaret Gartshore lived at Waterside, Kirkintilloch. She was single and aged 31 years. She was a cotton weaver by trade. Her mother was deceased.

The marriage was registered at Kirkintilloch on 22 November 1880. ¹

William next married Margaret McFARLANE on 7 June 1872 in Cumbernauld parish, Dunbartonshire, Scotland.² (Margaret McFARLANE was born about 1850.)
