"David Hamilton of Bothwellhaugh, fifth son of John Hamilton. He married Christian Shaw. In 1558 he was charged with abiding from the Raid of Lauder; and on 28th February 1570-71 his widow was charged with being a party to the murder of the Regent Murray."
