MONTEITH, Catharine of Auldcathy 1
General Notes: "850. Stirling (Alexander Garthshore) of Craigbarnet, in the County of Stirling, was son of James Garthshore of Alderston and Charlotte Stirling his wife, and succeeded his uncle, John Stirling of Craigbarnet, in that property. His maternal grand-father, James Stirling of Craigbarnet, who was engaged in the 1745 Rebellion, and was one of those against whom true bills were found for participation in it, was married to Catharine Monteith. She was a grand-daughter of Sir Thomas Dalyell of Binns, who was created a Baronet of Nova Scotia in 1685, and who was the only son of the persecuting cavalier officer, General Tom Dalyell of Binns. The subject of this notice was married 24th February, 1806, to Anne Miller, only child of James Miller, formerly of Jamaica and Elizabeth Fordyce his wife. They had no family." Catharine married James STIRLING of Craigbernard, Jacobite 1715 & 17145. (James STIRLING of Craigbernard, Jacobite 1715 & 17145 was born about 1690 and died after 17 February 1774 1.) |
