Marriages

"Marriages

April 29th Adam Procter in this parish and Christian Whyte in the parish of Borthwick gave in their names for proclamation in order to marriage Cautioner for the woman James Givan and for the man Adam Procter Junr. Married June 8th 1791"

Note:

"Adam Procter Junr." was a cautioner for the bridegroom in the text of the record above. This is evidence that Christian Whyte married the father Adam as his second wife, not his son Adam as his first. The younger Adam's son, also named Adam, was not born until 1797.
