The 1851 census for Cadder parish recorded William Walker, a labourer in a limeworks, living at Avenuehead with his four children and his mother Isabella Walker. William was 32 years old and recorded as born in New Monkland parish, as was his mother who was recorded as 60 years of age. The children were William, aged 9 years, Elizabeth, aged 7 years, John aged 5 years, and Thomas, aged 2 years. All four were born in Cadder parish.

William Walker, a cotton weaver, and his wife Margaret and their eight children were recorded by the 1861 census for Lanarkshire living in Mollinsburn, Cadder parish. The children were aged between 1 yand 18 years and had been born in Cadder parish. The three older children were cotton weavers. William Walker was 45 years old and his wife 36 years old. He had been born in Old Monkland parish and she had been born in Glasgow. 3 5


William married Elisabeth McFARLANE in April 1834 in New Monkland parish, Lanarkshire, Scotland.1 (Elisabeth McFARLANE was born about 1820 and died between 1849 and 1851 5.)

The OPR Index of marriages lists the date 31 March 1834 for this couple, probably the banns of marriage.

William next married Margaret CALDER, daughter of George CALDER and Mary MACPHERSON, on 31 October 1852 in Cadder Parish, Lanarkshire, Scotland. (Margaret CALDER was born about 1825 in Glasgow, Scotland 3 and died on 9 June 1887 in 17 Orchard Street, Paisley, Renfrewshire, Scotland.)
