CHRISTIE, James ¹

James married Ann GARTSHORE, daughter of Alexander GARTSHORE Provision Merchant and Isobel OSWALD, on 5 August 1858 in Airdrie, Lanarkshire, Scotland.¹ (Ann GARTSHORE was baptised on 27 May 1832 in New Monkland parish, Lanarkshire, Scotland and died on 9 March 1900 in Lanarkshire, Scotland ².)

  Marriage Notes:

The marriage was celebrated after banns according to the forms of the Established Church of Scotland. B. Cornwall Brown, minister at Airdrie, performed the ceremony. John Bishop and I. Gillen were witnesses.

James Christie, of Airdrie, was a 22 year old bachelor who worked as a collier. His father John, a collier too, was "now dead".

Ann Rankin Gartshore, who made her X mark, was also of Airdrie. She was an unmarried woman aged 24 years who worked as a weaver.

The marriage was registered at Airdrie on 7 August 1858. ³
