James Sneddon was a journeyman house painter. He was a single man, aged 26 years, and of 91 Hallcraig Street, Airdrie. His father was deceased.

Margaret Gartshore was also single. She was 19 years old and of 59 Chapel Street, Airdrie. She worked as a power loom weaver. Her father was deceased.

The marriage was registered at Airdrie on 24 December 1877. ¹
