In her daughter's 1921 marriage certificate Margaret's married and maiden surnames were recorded as Spence. ²

Margaret married Joseph SPENCE, son of Charles SPENCE and Elizabeth Scott CLARKSON, on 21 June 1889 in 7 Manse Place, Airdrie, Lanarkshire, Scotland.¹ (Joseph SPENCE was born about 1866 ¹ and died before 15 July 1921 ².)

The marriage took place according to the forms of the Free Church of Scotland. Witnesses were Alex Bell and Elsie Stewart.

Joseph Spence, a journeyman joiner, was a single man aged 23 years, of 30 Johnstone Street Airdrie.

Maggie Spence was 19 years old and single. She lived at 7 Manse Place Airdrie. No occupation was noted.

The marriage was registered on 24 June 1889 at Airdrie. ¹
